Employment Requirements and Supporting Documents

When applying for Top Talent Pass Scheme (TTPS) visa renewal, you must provide proof of employment in Hong Kong, or of establishing or participating in a business. Employed persons should submit an employment contract specifying the position, remuneration and period of engagement, together with the company’s business registration certificate, proof of financial standing, or the most recent audited financial report. If you have already set up a company in Hong Kong, you must provide the company registration certificate, business registration certificate, audited financial report, office tenancy agreement, list of employees, and Mandatory Provident Fund (MPF) contribution records, among others.

Proof of Residence and Ties to Hong Kong

For renewal, you must demonstrate that Hong Kong is your ordinary place of residence. This can be shown through utility bills (water, electricity and gas), bank statements, tax demands, and proof of your children’s schooling in Hong Kong, which together evidence your residential connection to the city. The Immigration Department will consider the duration, frequency and reasons for any time spent outside Hong Kong, to ensure you maintain sufficiently close ties with Hong Kong.

Practical Strategies for Avoiding a Visa Lapse

The key to avoiding a visa lapse lies in preparing ahead, ensuring your documents are complete, and submitting the application on time. It is advisable to submit the renewal application within four weeks before the visa expires, and to have all required documents ready in one go. If you need to leave Hong Kong temporarily for special reasons, you should retain relevant proof explaining the reason for your departure and your plan to return.
